Why is my car A/C not working?

Did you just google that? You are not alone. Every minute someone searches a variation of why their auto air conditioning is not blowing cold. Especially in our beautiful state of Florida. Which can start hitting the 90s by March, no joke. There is nothing like getting all ready for work and reaching your office wishing for another shower. Miserable commutes are not necessary when you can bring your car to Muffler City and drive out with cold air.

There are a few reasons why your air has either stopped blowing cold or stopped blowing all together. The first step is to have a diagnostic check of your air conditioning system.

The main cause of broken air conditioning is related to the refrigerant or lack thereof.

Refrigerant absorbs the heat from the air inside your car transitioning from a low pressure gas to a high pressure liquid. The air conditioning system sends the refrigerant outside where a fan blows hot air over the coils and exhausts it to the exterior. The refrigerant then cools down and turns back into a low pressure gas. Viola, cool commute!

Unfortunately, if the a/c check deduces your car needs refrigerant than there is very likely a leak. The leak must be fixed before refrigerant can be added and, so sorry, but this leak is actually damaging to the environment. It is a gas after all. BUT we can professionally repair any leak and are certified to recharge the refrigerant too.

Although refrigerant is the number one culprit of a/c failure, your system does consist of parts such as a compressor, condenser, evaporator, and fan that could also fail. It happens. The A/C check Muffler City will perform can detect if parts need repaired or replaced too.

You can call and schedule an appointment or just drop by the shop for an a/c check. After the check, a certified technician can perform any repairs you need. Leave that sweaty ride behind you today!
